Denise and her husband have raised 3 daughters in Topsham and more recently adopted 2 sons. They have all attended local public schools.
She served on the M.S.A.D. #75 School Board for 6 years and then for 6 years on the Municipal Finance Committee. Her community service includes time on the Spectrum Generations Board, the Board of Emerge Maine, the Brunswick Foodshed Advisory Committee, and the Board of Beth Israel Congregation.
Like many Mainers, Denise has held a variety of jobs. She worked in collections at Bowdoin College’s Arctic Museum, she taught Anthropology at USM and UMA, taught cooking through Merrymeeting Adult Ed, wrote a column for The Cryer, and worked in non-profits program evaluation.
In the Legislature, Denise has served on the Taxation Committee, the Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee, and as chair of the Health Coverage, Insurance, and Financial Services Committee.
She believes in buying from local farmers markets and farms, enjoys feeding her family and others, listening to books, and visiting her daughters.
“I support Denise Tepler because she cares for our community. She has taken the time to get to know our neighbors and think about what we need in times of uncertainty. Denise brings our concerns to Augusta and works to take care of schools, our seniors as well as our local businesses. I plan to vote for Denise in November.”

“Denise has made it her priority to reach out to the people of Topsham. Her caring for regular people, sense of fairness, and policy experience is a winning combination for Topsham and the State of Maine.”
